Autumn is a magical time in Surrey. The air is crisp and hazy, the leaves turn warm in colour as the weather cools off. We no longer walk in silence, as each step is accompanied by a satisfying crunch, and the sun starts to set just that little bit earlier. We’re big fans of Fall in Surrey, and we want to share it’s beauty with residents, visitors, and those who have yet to see the real Surrey.
Autumn shines it’s most beautifully in Surrey’s 200 parks, but with so many to visit and discover, which should you photograph first? We partnered up with Mike Lutke, who you may know as @delorean_mike on Instagram to guide photographers through one of Surrey’s most beautiful parks. He’s a life-long Surrey resident who captures the intricacies of life in the city. He sees beyond the day-to-day musings of life in a growing community, and zeros in on the small things that make growing up and living in Surrey so special. One of Mike’s spots for finding these moments is Tynehead Regional Park, and it’s the perfect spot for our Fall Instameet.
Tynehead Park boasts over 260 hectares of meadows and paths through the forest on the banks of the Serpentine River. Filled with wildlife and trees with changing colours, it’s a beautiful spot for photographers and nature lovers alike! Whether you’re an avid photographer with a collection of lenses too long to list, or you prefer to snap photos on your smartphone, we want to see YOU (yes, you!) at our Instameet. Details are as follows:
Where: Meet at the Tynehead Hatchery parking lot on 96th Avenue
Date: October 8th, 2016
Time: 12:00pm to 3:00pm
Instameets are a wonderful opportunity to meet local photographers, have a little fun, and show the rest of Beautiful British Columbia your True Surrey. The only thing we ask is that you use the hashtags #TrueSurrey and #FallColoursInTynehead in your captions, and dress for the weather. It is Autumn in the Pacific-Northwest after all!
Please register for the event by sending an email to brianna@discoversurrey.ca confirming your attendance.
