Father’s Day in Surrey

Father’s Day is just around the corner and with the hustle and bustle of the kids getting out of school and gearing up for summer, sometimes Dad’s special day gets overlooked (Sorry Dad!). We know that finding a great gift or a fun activity for Father’s Day can be a tricky one, so we’ve rounded up some fun, Surrey activities that we know Dad will love.

Go Fishing
Whether Dad is into fishing or just trying it for the first time, this weekend is the time to check it out! June 17 – 19, is BC’s Family Fishing Weekend. Every year, on this weekend only, the BC government waives the requirement for Canadian residents to have a basic freshwater fishing licence, so grab a rod and head to Green Timbers Urban Forest for a relaxing afternoon fishing for Rainbow Trout.

Go Bird Watching
Did you know that Surrey is home to a number of parks that provide year-round birdwatching? In fact, there are over 200 unique species of birds to see in Surrey! Make a checklist of birds to look for, grab your binoculars if you have them, pick up picnic supplies and head out on a birdwatching adventure. It’s an ideal way to appreciate Surrey’s winged wildlife in their natural habitat and get a little exercise at the same time. Here’s a little information about where to go and what to look for.

Go Whale Watching
Whale watching should be on everybody’s bucket list!  White Rock Sea Tours & Whale Watch Vancouver depart from the Crescent Beach Marina in South Surrey. Hop on board their state-of-the-art rigid hull inflatable boat and head out on the ocean to watch these majestic creatures in their natural environment.

Let’s go ride a bike
Bike riding is a fantastic family activity and there’s no better way to explore Surrey’s neighbourhoods and parks than by bike. Cyclists of all skill levels can find their happy place to ride as Surrey has an extensive network of parks, trails, gardens and green spaces … all available by bike. Check out some of our favourite local rides, and snack stops, because everybody needs a pre- or post-ride treat!

Go Golfing
Hit the greens with the family at Birdies and Buckets. This Par 3, 9-hole course is suitable for budding golfers of any ability. The facility also features a driving range with fun targets for teaching opportunities.

Whisky Tasting
Dominion Bar + Kitchen wants to make Father’s Day extra special – so we have some exclusive ways for you to celebrate. On Sunday, June 19, 2022, treat dad or your fatherly figure to a whisky tasting event or treat Dad to a delicious dinner feature.

Father’s Day at the Farm
Celebrate Dad with trains and history this Father’s Day at Historic Stewart Farm. The theme of the weekend is Victorian Gadgets and Gizmos! The Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club will also be onsite with a large-scale model railway display on the lawn. With some locomotive inspiration, head to Stewart Hall to make a train-themed Father’s Day card. The farmhouse will be open for drop-in visits as well.
