Go back in time and experience what a farm was like in the 1900s. The farm and the grounds were purchased by the city in 1984 and work began on heritage restoration in 1988. Period-costumed staff will welcome you to the farm, and the grounds feature a recreated garden and orchard. The plants grown in the garden are ones that would have been available during the time period. Volunteers used the archaeological records from the dirt in the gardens and even found certificates from local fairs that stated what the Stewarts had entered into the contests in 1898 and 1902. Available for rental, the Historic Stewart Farm is the perfect place to immerse yourself into Surrey’s past.

The Museum of Surrey is cooking up some exciting things this summer! The museum has brought the exciting Worlds of Wonder exhibit to Surrey. The gallery was created by the VLC, Vancouver’s Community for Adult Fans of LEGO. The museum has also created the Indigenous Hall, a space that is curated by the Indigenous land-based communities with Surrey. Finally, check out the Surrey Stories Gallery which features and celebrates the various historical stories found within Surrey. There’s an exhibit for everyone at the Surrey Museum!

Have you ever wanted to drive a train? Well, the Fraser Valley Heritage Rail is a must on your summer to-do list then! It allows guests to take a trip to Surrey’s recent past, and ride the historic BCER car 1225 from Cloverdale Station to Sullivan Station. The car itself ran from 1913 to 1958. The Heritage Rail also has interactive exhibits for the community to enjoy such as the velocipede, the restored maintenance vehicle known as the speeder, and a simulation so you can actually experience what it was like for the conductors to drive the trains yourself! The Fraser Valley Heritage Rail is fun for the whole family to enjoy!

The BC Vintage Truck Museum started as a private collection owned by trucking magnate Bob King. The truck collection passed through a few different hands before finding its current home in Cloverdale. Since then, the collection has expanded due to a few donations, and the museum and their volunteers have worked tirelessly to restore them. The collection spans from 1914 to 1977 and the museum itself is filled with memorabilia, tools, signage, and pumps from the various time periods. If you are interested in trucks, the vintage aesthetic, or simply want to speak to the volunteers about their passion, then the BC Vintage Truck Museum is the place for you!
