“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”
~ Sir Winston Churchill
Beside the Museum and the Archives is the Cloverdale Cenotaph. Every Remembrance Day, it’s where Surrey remembers the men and women who’s sacrifices afforded us the freedoms we enjoy today. But there’s more…
After the ceremony, bring the family to the Museum to warm up with hot chocolate and cookies while you enjoy a range of commemorative activities:
• peaceful crafts for the kids like tissue paper poppies and thankful artwork
• postcard thank-you notes that will be delivered to local veterans
• WWII documentaries in the museum’s theatre
• music from the Hazelmere Heritage Fiddlers
• weaving and spinning demonstrations of in the Textile Studio
• hands-on weaving on the Museum’s table loom
• wartime documents viewing in our Reference Room (Surrey Archives)
• presentation of BC’s Home Front with local author Sylvia Crooks.
Lest we forget…
Surrey Museum is located at 17710-56A Avenue and is open from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
