It’s a Saturday night ritual that most Canadians are VERY familiar with. From coast to coast, Canadians tune in to cheer on their favourite team on Hockey Night in Canada. For many, this tradition of gathering as a family and watching some NHL hockey starts when we’re young, and stays with us as we go through our lives, and though all of us may not play the sport, we all have a hockey story.
Rogers Hometown Hockey lands in Surrey on December 9th and 10th for an all out celebration of Surrey’s hockey stories and champions, and is the perfect occasion to make lasting hockey memories with your family. So what does this weekend full of kid-friendly fun, hockey, and heroes have in store for Surrey’s Civic Plaza?
Kiddos have the opportunity to not only learn about the good old hockey game, they can also have an absolute BLAST! Tim Horton’s Ball Hockey Rink is the perfect time for a little pick-up hockey to either get introduced to the sport, or to perfect those hockey skills. Watch Paz, the world-renowned hockey acrobat has he juggles pucks, and even flaming hockey sticks.
Don’t miss the meet-and-greet opportunity with hockey legends Kirk McLean and Dave Babych in the Scotiabank Community Locker Room. Young hockey fans can also get to see how larger-than-life their hockey heroes are, with virtual-reality photo-ops and autograph opportunities with their favourite players.
Throughout the weekend, there will also be live, local entertainment, free slices of pizza, and special guest appearances. Whether you’ve been a fan of the game your whole life, or this is your first time experiencing Canada’s favourite game, there’s something for everyone at Surrey’s stop of Roger’s Hometown Hockey. Be sure to stick around for the live viewing party during the boradcast of the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs Game on December 10th!
