#BCTourismMatters Week

We Love Surrey, Yes We Do!

And we know you do, too!

May 27th to June 2nd is British Columbia’s Tourism Matters Week. As Surrey’s Destination Marketing Organisation, we at Discover Surrey are excited to share our passion for Tourism with residents.

After all, it’s Surrey’s residents and their dedication to the community that make Surrey such a special place to visit. From civic pride to family-run restaurants, exciting athletic events to gorgeous hiking trails, we share Surrey’s stories with potential visitors all over the Province and beyond.

Tourism makes up a big part of British Columbia’s economy. Tourism accounts for over 133,000 jobs, 5.7 million International visitors, and 17 billion dollars in revenue in 2016. Surrey is no exception to these numbers, and Discover Surrey’s marketing efforts contribute to Surrey’s tourism growth.

So what does Discover Surrey do to improve tourism opportunities in Surrey?

We operate two Visitor Centres located beside the USA border crossings to help travellers make informed travel decisions. Our Sport Surrey initiative attracts Provincial and National sport tournaments and competitions to keep our hotels full. We also run strong digital campaigns targeted at our key target markets to raise Surrey’s profile and inform trip-planners about things to do and see in the city.

Discover Surrey also fosters community pride through video production and our #TrueSurrey campaign, which you (yes, YOU), can participate in at any time by tagging your gorgeous Surrey photos on social media.
