Father’s Day is this weekend and even though it may seem that we’ve been spending a whole lot of time with Dad the past few months, it doesn’t mean that we should overlook the gift of quality time. Plan an activity (and maybe a treat) to show your Dad (or your little’s Dad) how much he is appreciated!
Here are some ways to spend some quality time with dad, even if you left it to the last minute!
Head to the Beach
Rain or shine, there’s so much to discover at the beach. Head to Crescent Beach, grab a coffee or an ice cream, or a coffee AND an ice cream, and go exploring. Keep your eyes peeled for crabs and clams, and colourful pieces of beach glass.
Hit the Greens
Take Dad to the driving range, or play a round at one of Surrey’s golf courses! Choose from a challenging championship course, or take it easy and head to a shorter pitch & putt. olf is a great way to spend time with dad, get a little exercise and still maintain social distance.
Go Fishing
Whether Dad is into fishing or just trying it for the first time, this weekend is the time to check it out! June 19 – 21, is BC’s Family Fishing Weekend. Every year, on this weekend only, the BC government waives the requirement for Canadian residents to have a basic freshwater fishing licence, so grab a rod and head to Green Timber Lake for a relaxing afternoon fishing for Rainbow Trout.
Did someone say chocolate?
Chocolate isn’t just for Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day … Dad’s like chocolate too! And Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has two amazing Dad-centric gift boxes on offer this year. Tap Restaurant has tables still available, and if it’s sunny, the patio will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. Or for the Dad’s who like it a little spicy, Spice 72 Restaurant & Lounge offers North and South Indian delicacies in a tranquil, laid-back atmosphere. And if you’re not quite ready for the dine-out experience, almost all of the restaurants are offering take out options.
