Weekend Roadtrip: Brewery Pick Me Up

Sometimes, the fall season and changing leaves, though beautiful, can leave you longing for the long, warm days of summer! So, we decided that a little pick-me-up was in order and we pulled together some action-packed ideas centered around a visit to one of Surrey’s fabulous brewpubs.  If you’re looking for a perfect day out to explore Surrey’s brewery options and immerse yourself in some of the indoor activities that Surrey has to offer, keep on reading!

Big Ridge Brewing
5580 152 St
Located in the Newton neighborhood in Surrey, this long-standing brewpub has been brewing batches of their lager and ale for the past two decades. Their sprawling menu includes a variety of seasonal and specialty beers. It’s important to note that they only brew their beer for consumption on their premises. So if you like it … you’ll have to go back!

Bad Axe Surrey
8132 130 Street
Are your axe-throwing skills a little rusty … or maybe non-existent? Head to Surrey’s Bad Axe Throwing and learn how to throw in a safe, welcoming environment. A Canadian classic, they are the largest urban axe-throwing club in the world, and even have an axe-throwing league and championship tournament for anyone looking to get a little more competitive.

Central City Brewers
Brewery: 11411 Bridgeview Drive
Brew Pub: 13450 102 Ave
Grab some local brews made right here in Surrey! Enjoy a Red Racer Ale or sip on an original cocktail at the Central City Brew Pub. Located in North Surrey, Central City Brewers + Distillers is a BC craft brewery pioneer. Visit the brew pub, retail shop or learn about the process of craft brewing with a tour of the brewery.

E-Exit
15345 BC-10
A block away from Big Ridge Brewing is E-Exit, Surrey’s own escape room! They are the largest escape room in Canada and are constantly expanding. With 4 different rooms to explore, the pressure is on to navigate the rooms, find clues and solve the puzzles all while trying to escape within the time limit!

Surrey is not the only place in the Lower Mainland with some amazing breweries, our neighbouring communities of Langley, Richmond, Delta (and many more) offer some pretty great beer destinations.
